Day 29 - “The Fires”
There was no Word from the Lord recorded on this day in 2007 in San Diego California.
I awoke to my youngest brother calling me as he and his family were given an hours notice to evacuate their home and business. My other brother called me as well and all were headed to my home for safety as my home was not yet affect by the fire. There was no availability at hotels/motels - the city was on fire!

As this was all taking place, I was reminded that we were in the middle of a 40 day fast and had been praying that God would tear down strongholds and that people would turn back to Him.
The scripture God gave me for this fast was Joel 2:12-13- “Even now, declares the Lord, “Return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity.”
Psalm 42:1 - “ As the deer pants for water, so my soul pants for thee oh Lord.” Also read chapters 42 & 43 which I realized was a prayer of distress in times of need.
The Lord also led me to Jeremiah 36:9 which read, “ in the ninth month, they had proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people who came from the cities of Judah and Jerusalem.” I noticed it said, “In the ninth month,” - this fast started in the ninth month. Jeremiah was interceding and warning Jerusalem and Judah to turn from their wicked ways an start fasting.
In the midst of a physical fire, there seemed to be a spiritual fire raging across San Diego. What came as much of a surprise was some of the things hidden that were brought to the surface because of the fires. One was a Christian Cult called, “The Children of God” who had just released an HBO documentary exposing the horrific abuses within this cult. One of my young clients, as I was telling her about the fires and us fasting, is the person who told me that she had escaped from this cult and was in the documentary. She shared that during this fire a home in the heart of SD that was still hidden and functioning by the cult, had been affected by the fires and authorities were alerted.
I know God is doing this right here in Sonoma, CA. He is setting a fire- a spiritual raging fire as we partner with Him to release captives, destroy strongholds, bring to light the dark deeds to be destroyed, and turn hearts to Him. He is also setting fire within His people tor use up and pray like never before.
Luke 8:17 - “ For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, or anything concealed that will not be made known.”
Zechariah 2:5 - “ I myself will be a wall of fire around it, and I will be the glory within it.”
